HSR Refresher OHS Training Course – Work Related Gendered Violence

Work-related gendered violence including sexual harassment is a serious occupational health and safety issue that can be addressed under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004.

This WorkSafe-approved training course will help HSRs and DHSRs to understand and exercise their powers effectively. The training will provide HSRs and DHSRs with the confidence, skills and knowledge to represent their co-workers (ie. their designated working group) when raising health and safety concerns in relation to work-related gendered violence and to understand the health and safety issues arising from incidents of work-related gendered violence.

The HSR Refresher OHS Training Course covers:

• Consultation, communication and representation
• Gendered violence, definitions, impacts and injury
• Identifying risks, risk assessment, prevention and the hierarchy of control
• Resolving issues

Under Section 67 of the OHS Act 2004, entitlements to attend these courses are:

• All elected HSRs and Deputy HSRs (DHSR’s) who have completed the Initial course of training, are entitled to undertake the WorkSafe Victoria approved HSR Refresher OHS Training course and choose their training course in consultation with their employer (for each year they hold office)
• An employer, if requested, must allow an elected HSR and elected Deputy HSR to attend a WorkSafe Victoria approved HSR Refresher OHS Training Course on paid time, pay the cost of the course and any other associated costs
• Under OHS legislation, employers must not obstruct or prevent HSR’s from attending an approved course of their choice
• This course is designed specifically for HSRs and DHSRs who want to refresh their knowledge and skills.

HSR Refresher – Course Duration: 1 day - 7 hours (excluding breaks)
